In the book, Kate reaches out to Tully, while she's on assignment in Antarctica, but can't reach her. Based on the trailer for the upcoming episodes, Kate's therapist recommends she reaches back out to Tully. They start talking again after Kate gets diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. Yes, these two BFFs do make amends, but it’s still not under the best circumstances. So, that's basically why Kate and Tully stopped speaking. Kate is (obviously) less than pleased about this, and ends up storming off the show.

While the segment is initially supposed to help this mother and daughter duo work out their issues (they can't stop fighting), it turns out that Kate is actually on the segment to represent "overbearing moms," the outlet says. Tensions between the besties really came to a head, though, when Tully invites Kate and her daughter, Marah, to appear on her show, The Girlfriend Hour, where Johnny works as a producer, per PEOPLE.
